Tugboat at Bayou le Batre, original oil painting by Joan Pechanec

Tugboat at Bayou le Batre

Original oil painting on canvas
16″ x 20″
$450
This is loosely based on a photo I took of an abandoned tugboat in the weeds beside a boatyard in the fishing town of Bayou le Batre, Mississippi, the town where Forest Gump was filmed. I changed the light to a golden late afternoon light because I loved the way it illuminated a drab and sad scene, which was full of litter and barbed wire fencing with this wonderful, well-used old boat.
