Light in the Valley, Original Oil Painting by Joan Pechanec, 16 x 20 $375 This painting was inspired by a scene from a trip to Switzerland. I loved the proportions, the way the vertical cliff dwarfs the small house in the valley, and the sharp value contrast of the morning light. I used a palette knife to paint the rock surfaces so the painting has a dynamic texture.

Canadian Glacier, Original Oil Painting by Joan Pechanec, 24 x 12 (1 1/2 gallery wrapped canvas) $325 This painting was inspired by a trip through the Canadian Ice Fields. The evening light was just reflecting off the tip of the glaciers while the rest of the mountains were enshrouded in mist. At the base, the light reflected on the glacier melt. I wanted the viewer to see the unusual milky green of the water and the feel the atmosphere of the high altitude.
